1. Introduction and Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the MindyBite iOS application (the “App”), the public website at mindybite.com (the “Website”), and support communications you choose to send to MindyBite.

MindyBite is a wellness and self-reflection tool. This policy describes the information associated with these services, where that information is stored, and the limited circumstances in which MindyBite receives personal information.

2. Our Privacy Approach

MindyBite is designed to be local-first. The personal reflections you create in the App remain on your device rather than being sent to a MindyBite backend. The App does not require an account or login, and MindyBite does not operate a backend account database.

This design limits the personal app information transmitted to MindyBite. Some other services—such as Apple’s App Store and the Website’s hosting provider—operate independently under their own privacy practices, as explained below.

3. Information We Do Not Collect Through the App

Through the App, MindyBite does not:

  • create user accounts or require login credentials;
  • use advertising or advertising identifiers;
  • use tracking technologies, analytics SDKs, or third-party behavioral analytics; or
  • receive or transmit your journal entries, personal goals, pause-session reflections, or progress information on MindyBite servers.

Because MindyBite does not receive this local app information, it is not available to us for profiling, advertising, or analytics.

4. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Depending on how you use the App, locally stored information may include:

  • a name or nickname you enter;
  • selected eating-focus patterns;
  • custom “Something else” focus text;
  • your personal goal or intention;
  • Pattern Journal entries;
  • pause-session notes and reflections;
  • progress information;
  • your guide or owl preference; and
  • other app settings and preferences.

This information is stored on your device and is under your device-level control. MindyBite does not transmit it to MindyBite servers. Features available in the App may allow you to change or remove certain local information.

5. Support Communications

If you voluntarily email support@mindybite.com, MindyBite receives your email address and any information you choose to include, such as your question, feedback, device details, or a description of an app problem.

We use support communications to respond to you, troubleshoot problems, manage feedback, and maintain the security and reliability of our services. Support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes, ordinary recordkeeping, security, or applicable legal obligations.

Please avoid including sensitive personal or health information that is not needed for us to assist you.

6. Purchases and Apple Services

App Store purchases and payment processing are handled by Apple. MindyBite does not receive or store your payment-card details.

Apple may process information related to App Store activity, purchases, downloads, updates, your device, and device or iCloud backups. Apple controls this processing and handles it according to Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

7. MindyBite Website and Hosting

The Website does not use MindyBite analytics, advertising cookies, behavioral tracking, or tracking scripts. MindyBite does not use the Website to build profiles of visitors.

The Website is intended to be hosted using GitHub Pages. Like other web-hosting providers, GitHub may process technical connection information necessary to receive a request and deliver the Website, such as an IP address, browser or device information, request details, and timestamps. This processing is governed by GitHub’s own privacy practices. MindyBite does not claim to receive or control GitHub’s hosting logs.

8. How We Use Information

Most information you create in the App never reaches MindyBite and therefore is not used by us. Information you voluntarily provide in a support communication is used to:

  • answer your questions and respond to requests;
  • investigate and troubleshoot app problems;
  • consider and manage feedback; and
  • protect the security and integrity of our services and communications.

9. Sharing and Disclosure

MindyBite does not share your local goals, journal entries, pause reflections, or progress information because MindyBite does not receive that information.

We do not sell support communications or use them for advertising. We may disclose information contained in support communications when reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation or valid legal process; investigate fraud, abuse, or a security issue; or protect the rights, safety, and security of MindyBite, our users, or others, where permitted or required by law.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Local app information remains on your device until it is changed or removed through available App features, or the App is deleted. Deleting MindyBite may delete the information stored locally by the App.

Apple device and iCloud backup behavior depends on Apple’s services and your device settings, not MindyBite. A backup may affect whether information remains available after the App is deleted or a device is restored.

MindyBite cannot remotely access or delete local app information that it never receives. Support emails are retained only as reasonably necessary for support, feedback management, recordkeeping, security, and applicable legal obligations.

11. Data Security

MindyBite’s local-first approach reduces the amount of personal information transmitted to and stored by MindyBite. We take reasonable steps appropriate to the limited information we do receive, such as support communications.

No device, email system, storage method, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We encourage you to use the security features available on your device and email account.

12. Children’s Privacy

MindyBite is not specifically designed as a service for children, and it does not knowingly operate an account-based service that collects children’s personal information. Because the App has no accounts and local reflections are not transmitted to MindyBite, we generally do not know the age of a person using the App.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support communication, please contact us at support@mindybite.com so we can review the request and take appropriate action consistent with applicable law.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Privacy rights vary depending on where you live and may be subject to exceptions under applicable law. MindyBite generally cannot access, export, correct, or delete information stored locally in the App because that information remains on your device and is not received by MindyBite.

For personal information contained in support communications, you may contact support@mindybite.com to ask a privacy question or exercise a right available to you under applicable law. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

14. International Users

MindyBite may be available to users in different countries. The App does not operate a MindyBite backend that collects your local reflections. If you contact support from outside the location where the support service is operated, your communication may be processed in another country as necessary to respond to you.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as MindyBite, our practices, or applicable requirements evolve. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
